What Supplies Do You Need to Keep Cardiology Machines Operational?

by | Aug 20, 2024 | Health Care

Cardiology machines are vital machines that measure how well a patient’s heart functions, allowing a medical professional to detect irregularities and treat them in time. There are several different types of these machines, including EKG machines, bedside monitors, and more.

All of these machines need other supplies to function continuously and between patients, so any medical office or clinic must be well-stocked. Here are some of the supplies that you will need to operate them.

Medical Electrodes

Many cardiology machines such as EKGs rely on electromagnetic readings to get an accurate picture of a person’s cardiological function. To get this reading, they need electrodes or sensors that attach to a person’s skin. Since these electrodes need to be changed out for each patient for sanitary reasons, it is important to keep a regular supply.

Paper

Many cardiograms and other machines transmit their results by writing on paper. Thus, a medical clinic also needs a regular supply of paper. Before purchasing paper, check which kind your machine uses as they differ in terms of size and other qualities. Most use grid paper, but some use regular chart paper as well.

Sanitizing Supplies

When using any type of machine, it is important to avoid cross-contamination or infection. The machines need to be sanitized between each patient, so make sure that you have the right cleaning supplies on hand.

This is not an exhaustive list of everything that you need to operate these machines, but these supplies are important.
